Alhad Gore an Architect Par Excellence
Alhad Gore an Architect Par Excellence
Graduated in 1993 as an Architect from Academy of Architecture, Mumbai, Alhad started his career as a Junior Designer and gradually went on to become a Director, a Partner, a CEO in top Architectural and Design-Build firms. Besides being a Designer and an Entrepreneur, Alhad loves teaching and mentoring. He is invited in various institutes across the country as a guest lecturer and as a jury and had the honour of being invited as an industry expert to revise the curriculum by Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education.
He started his own firm by the name of Beyond Design in late 2009 with a clear focus on aesthetics coupled with functionality (that is why the name Beyond Design!) started on a small humble scale. Today 10 years down the line, the firm has completed approx. 60-lakh sqft of fit-out projects and is actively engaged in about 25-lakh sqft of work. The firm has bagged prestigious international awards like The Society for British and International Design award for the best office design in London 2016, BERG, and Singapore award for the best office design in 2017. APDC-IDA award for the best office design in New York in 2018.
The body of work and core competence has been mainly in the area of Corporate / IT / ITES / Call Centre / BPO / Pharma industry. The scale of the projects undertaken is varied, right from a few thousand sq. ft to a million sq. ft at a single location. The same has been widely published until now in various Indian and International magazines. The firm believes in aligning its design thinking with that of the client’s and hence every solution is unique. In addition, while delivering the same, the firm uses best of the technology platforms in the construction world like BIM and VR and hence, today is at the forefront of innovation. Major clients include industry names like St Gobain, SAS, Accenture, Sungard, Globant, Here solutions, GE, Standard Chartered, Roche, Teva, Watson Pharma, Barclays, Redbrick, Schlumberger, Sungard, Syska, Wipro and many more. Alhad has seen the paradigm shift in the way workplaces used to function 25 years back and how they function today. He believes that although a major part of the way people function is going to be dominated by technology, human interaction will never be replaced.
Well, the philosophical foundation of the company can be summed up in its “vision + mission + value” statement. Its vision is to be the most respectable architectural firm in the country. The mission is “to provide a holistic approach to each project” and the values that we cherish are “Honesty, hard work, and humility”. With these aspects in mind, the DNA of every client is approached in a methodical way, understanding their DNA, work culture, aspirations, budgets, timelines etc. Once that is understood, the rest is only a matter of following the design process. Frankly, the architect believes the only way to tackle is “not to bite more than one can chew”. Architectural practice is more like a doctor. There can never be a generalised solution and it has to be a customised solution every time. Hence, maintaining a small studio and giving niche solutions is the best approach. In fact, in this era of globalisation, it should be looked at positively. More competition will always give rise to a better delivery model for the client.
