Style and Functionality of Lokhandwala Residence

This celebrity home was a flat that needed extensive transformation from the purchased condition. The resale property had many curved walls and overly curved old-style ceiling designs. The design brief was to create elegance with style and functionality.

The flat had two lift lobbies, 1 for guests, 1 for personal use to building amenities. Both had to create grand entrance statements. The guest lift lobby welcomes guests with a large as far over carved in wood set upon a sand-textured wall.

Two red accent chairs with gold mirror backgrounds create that pop in colour into this lightless lobby area. The grills used in the windows and safety door take you back to colonial foundry designs. With a bold decision to take up black as the accent colour, the entire theme has a modern eclectic feel to it. The barcode-like flooring inlay with brass strips leads the way to the foyer space with the personal lift.

The foyer welcomes you with a large dome adorned with a chandelier. The gold textured painted walls on either side of the personal lift provide the functionality to space. The large living dining space wall highlighted by opulent use brown mirror panelling between the bar units. A large textured wall draws you into space with its line work, marrying the storage with the artistry of this hand-painted textured wall. The living rooms seating is highlighted by the accent chairs in blue with the backdrop of art deco curtain motifs.

The kitchen is the highlight of this home with a dazzling floor that sets an art deco tone to the room. The yellow handmade tile in the dado area with the white quartz top lends that modern touch. With various modern kitchen accessories and built-in gadgets, this kitchen truly embodies functionality and aesthetic. The bedrooms each had a unique theme. The kids’ room is a bright blue and red themed room. The ceiling is highlighted with youthful led strips and a sporty bed back. The beds, wardrobe sport the red theme. A TV unit and study table are integrated into every room. The kid’s bathroom also continues the red theme with red tiles placed in a herringbone pattern. The other two bedrooms were designed with unique colour themes but similar functionalities. The bathrooms have unique themes with the Turkish Mediterranean look in one and a rich marble look in the other.
