The Woodberry Begins Construction
The Woodberry Begins Construction. Baltimore-based real estate developer Klein Enterprises announced that it has closed on financing to start construction on The Woodberry, a 284-unit mid-rise apartment community located at 2001 W. Cold Spring Lane, just off of Interstate 83 near the light rail station and the Loyola University athletic fields in Baltimore City.
The Woodberry Begins Construction. Developers of a 284-unit multi-family development planned for North Baltimore this week closed on a $64.5 million loan backed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s multifamily housing office.
The Woodberry was designed by JDavis Architects. The project will stretch six stories and have rooftop amenities that overlook the Jones Falls watershed. As part of the construction, a portion of the Jones Falls Trail will be moved and rebuilt, developers told the city last year.
Klein said that the project will have one, two and three-bedroom luxury units. There will be 7,500 square feet of retail space and a 434-space parking garage.
Construction will begin this week, the first phase of the project will include the 284-unit apartment building, plus 7,500 sq. ft. of ground floor retail surrounding an internal courtyard and concrete grade parking garage providing 434 on-site parking spaces for residents. The main entrance drive will include 64 additional surface level parking spaces for use by retail customers. It will also include site improvements and landscaping to provide a connection to the Jones Falls hiking and biking trail that traverses the site. The first phase is expected to be ready for occupancy in Spring 2020.
The Woodberry will have market rate units. The complex is the latest multi-family development to break ground in the northern Baltimore corridor that has seen growth over the past five years in areas like Clipper Mill, Remington and Hampden.
Manekin LLC will also be a partner in the project. Read more
